CMLPAC
The Colorado Mortgage Lenders Association has established "CMLPAC" to support candidates to State-level elected office who share our vision of a world of homeownership achieved through the practice of integrity based lending. CMLPAC may accept personal donations up to $500 and/or aggregate contributions up to $2,500.
CMLPAC is a non-partisan committee that will support candidates from both major political parties who appreciate the critical role that mortgage brokers, mortgage bankers and industry service providers offer in fulfilling the American dream of homeownership.
As a CMLA member or friend, CMLPAC welcomes your personal contribution of per year to help promote ethical lending practices and to protect the greatest system of community investment ever to exist: the mortgage lending industry!

Frequently Asked Questions about CMLPAC:
Can I give more than $500 per year?
Maybe. Any single contribution is limited to $500. However, State law does allow "aggregate contributions". If you own one or more companies you may contribute up to $2,500 in aggregate contributions of no more than $500 from each corporate entity. A person or company may only contribute $500 one time during an election cycle.
Example: John Smith can make a $500 personal contribution. If Mr. Smith owns a company, his company can make a $500 contribution. If he owns 2, 3, or 4 companies, each company can contribute $500 up to a maximum of $2,500.
Can I pay with a company check?
Maybe. See above answer.
Can my spouse/significant other contribute?
Yes. In fact, any person of voting age who is a U.S. citizen may contribute. If two persons share an account, you may send one check for both. Please include the full name, title, and employer of both contributors.
Can all employees of a company contribute?
Yes. Any person of voting age who is a U.S. citizen may contribute up to $500. While each employee is able to contribute personally, a company may only contribute a maximum of $500 only once during an election cycle.
Who will receive support from CMLPAC?
As a non-partisan political action committee, CMLPAC will support candidates for the State House of Representatives, State Senate, State Treasurer, Attorney General, Secretary of State, Lieutenant Governor and Governor.
How will candidates be selected?
The CMLA Legislative Committee and Board of Directors will identify candidates who will fight to protect the greatest system of community investment ever to exist: the mortgage lending industry!
Why should I contribute?
Trade unions and professional associations gain significant influence when many people give small amounts. CMLPAC now offers that opportunity to mortgage brokers, mortgage bankers and industry service providers.
Will my contribution really make a difference?
Yes! In 2002, the citizens of Colorado voted to pass Amendment 27 which changed campaign finance laws in our state. One motivation behind that effort was to return power to the people by limiting corporate dollars and influence in political activities. With that power comes the responsibility for us all to give a little so that our industry - and your career - are well represented within our State government.
Please contribute and encourage your friends, family and business associates to join with CMLPAC in defending the American dream of homeownership.
