2nd Annual CMLA Ski Train trip to Winter Park draws a crowd

52 people signed up for CMLA’s Second Annual Ski Train Trip, up from a little more than a dozen at the inaugural ski train trip last year. Shortly before 6 a.m. March 23 the group of skiiers and snowboarders arrived at Union Station and rode the scenic Ski Train to Winter Park Ski Resort. Passing through 27 tunnels, including the historic 6-mile long Moffat Tunnel, the group viewed the beautiful snow-covered landscape while enjoying a leisurely breakfast and getting acquainted with each other.

“Word must have gotten around about the fun we had at last year’s initial venture,” said Dan Hagstrom, CMLA Board member who had a key part in organizing the day-long outing. “I hope even more plan to ride the train and ski beautiful Winter Park next year.”

Sponsor North American Title treated the group with goodie bags that included fun items and snacks as well as useful items such as sunblock and chapstick, which everyone put to good use as some early morning clouds cleared and sun shone brightly most of the day.

A fairly large contingent from Colorado Springs drove up to experience the powder of Winter Park. Jay Garten, President of Peoples Mortgage Corporation and CMLA Board member, took his 16-year old daughter for a day on the slopes. “This day was wonderful as it gave me quality time with my daughter without the pressure of driving up and back from Winter Park,” Jay noted.
