Jaclyn Creadon
Account Executive, AIG United Guaranty
Jaclyn Creadon started her mortgage career as a secretary in the commercial loan department at Columbia Savings & Loan Association in Englewood, Colorado, in 1980. During her four years at Columbia, Jaclyn worked as a legal secretary and as secretary to the executive vice president of production and servicing.
She started her sales career as a sales service rep in 1984 for VEREX, Inc. (an MI company that is no longer in business). In 1986 she went to work for Trans Union Corporation and worked her way up to a job as the sales manager for Colorado and Wyoming. In 1993, she opened the state of Colorado for Triad Guaranty Insurance Company, where she worked for eight years. Jaclyn tried her hand at being a wholesale rep for four years, primarily at EverBank Wholesale Production, before having the great privilege, in 2005, of going to work with Kathi Cramer at AIG United Guaranty as an account executive for Colorado and New Mexico and in El Paso, Texas.
Jaclyn decided to pursue CMLA’s Certified Mortgage Lender designation “because it means that I’m a professional in my field and take my small impact on the mortgage industry in Colorado seriously.”
“I’m proud to be included in an elite group of my peers and industry professionals that I respect and admire,” she said. “Having the CML designation reinforces the fact that I’m in the mortgage business for the long-term, not just long enough to make a quick buck. I’ve always been supportive of the CMLA and their efforts to make the mortgage industry a respected career choice in Colorado.”
When asked to name someone who has had an impact on her career and life, Jaclyn mentions Gary Nesmith, her boss at Columbia Savings in the early 1980s.
“Gary was the EVP in charge of all lending, loan servicing, and compliance. He had a huge responsibility and a huge job, but never let the stress interfere with just being a really nice guy, treating everyone equally with dignity and respect, and making sure that you knew it was just a job, not your life.” Jaclyn remembers that Gary actually encouraged her to go to work for VEREX when she wasn’t sure that she wanted to change jobs. She also credits him with seeing potential in her that she hadn’t yet realized.
“He told me on several occasions that he was very proud of me for being able to take the risk and make the transition from being an office secretary in a very structured environment to being a successful sales professional. Whenever I come across a tough interpersonal situation, I always try to reflect on how Gary might have handled the situation and model my response and reaction after him.”
Jaclyn has been married for 27 years to husband Paul, a Littleton Police lieutenant. They have a son, Nick (24) who is a petroleum engineer in Houston, Texas (and trying desperately to get transferred back to Colorado as soon as possible).
