In this issue:12th Annual Mick Iverson Golf Classic re-cap
Members and friends of the CMLA gathered for the 12th Annual M.C. “Mick” Iverson Golf Classic at Pinehurst Country Club June 18 for a fun-filled day and to honor the late Mick Iverson, a mortgage banking icon in the Denver area and a golf enthusiast. Mick’s son Kevin Iverson, owner of Reed Mortgage Corporation, was part of the second place group.
Prior to the formation of the Denver Mortgage Bankers Association in 1956, Mick was part of a small group of individuals who got together to discuss mortgage business in Denver. At that point in time, only a handful of mortgage companies existed in Denver; the majority of mortgage business was conducted through banks and savings and loans. Eventually the group formalized and became the Denver Mortgage Bankers Association. Mick was one of the founding members of the Denver Mortgage Bankers Association, now CMLA.
The company Mick worked for did a lot of construction financing for builders in many of the inner suburbs of Denver, from Aurora to Jefferson county. Although Mick worked hard, one of his passions was playing golf. He and Kevin enjoyed playing courses around the country. By gathering together for a day of golf and fun, we continue to celebrate his contributions not only to our association and to the mortgage industry. Mick was CMLA president in 1982-83 and Kevin Iverson served as president in 1991-92.

126 golfers enjoyed the centuries-old Pinehurst course – and a perfect, sunny 80-degree June day. The Modified Scramble format allowed for a new twist to the game, which many of the golfers enjoyed. Scores were a bit higher than usual as the modified scramble combines the two lowest scores on each hole for the hole score.
