Holbert Elected to the Board of Habitat for Humanity of Colorado

Habitat for Humanity of Colorado (HFHC) recently announced the results of their annual election of "at-large" members of the HFHC Board of Directors. One of those elected is our own Chris Holbert, President of the Colorado Mortgage Lenders Association.

"It is truly an honor to have been elected to the HFHC Board of Directors," said Holbert. "My first experience with Habitat occurred in 1994 when CMLA sponsored a Habitat home in Thornton Colorado. Working shoulder to shoulder with Andy Lohr, the homeowner, and his family to help build their new home was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I'll also never forget the dedication ceremony that summer when the Lohr's and four other families took possession of their homes and became a community."

HFHC was incorporated in 1992 as an umbrella or support organization to represent each of the local Habitat affiliates in Colorado. There are currently 29 local affiliates that benefit from the centralized fund raising, promotion and administration services provided by HFHC. The HFHC Board of Directors consists of 25 affiliate representatives, 9 at-large members, and one representative of Habitat for Humanity International. Since 1992, HFHC has raised more than $11 million for affiliates, and various resource sharing programs have enabled affiliates to increase their homebuilding efforts. Those funds helped build or renovate more than 500 homes in Colorado.

"The most rewarding aspect of being at CMLA is the opportunity to work with creative, innovative leaders. HFH has also benefited from such passionate direction. From Millard Fuller, founder of HFHI to De Wayne Perry, Chairman of the Board, HFHC, the success of both organizations is a result of people gravitating toward visionary leadership. I am excited, proud and humbled to be a part of the HFHC Board and to represent CMLA in that cause," Holbert said.
