Marketing Tip In today's marketplace, everyone is looking for ways to expand their sphere of influence and to work together with industry partners to provide outstanding service to their customers. And, lenders are no different as they commonly partner with a variety of ancillary businesses to expand their own client base. Homeowners in upscale residential areas are likely to contact established professional contractors for bids when they want to construct or renovate their landscaping. A landscape project "done right" to client specifications can represent a major expense that enhances the value of the property by 15% (Money Magazine, March 2003). When contractors state their bid, prospective clients without the immediate funds to complete their project may be inclined to scale back plans or complete the work in stages. Because these projects include installing irrigation systems and shifting earth and materials with heavy equipment, the homeowner who chooses this option often ends up spending more money in the long run by making incremental improvements instead of financing the entire venture and accomplishing what they initially desired. One solution a contractor can give a potential client in need of financing is to take out a home equity loan to cover the completed project.
