Pat Cooper
Account Executive, Wachovia
Pat began her career in the industry in the retail mortgage division at World Savings (recently purchased by Wachovia) 15 years ago in Colorado Springs. Over the years she has held various positions in mortgage lending. Currently, as an account exec in the wholesale department, Pat spends her days training and negotiating to make sure files close.
Shortly after joining World Savings Pat became involved with the CMLA as a member of what was then called the Southern Colorado Mortgage Lenders Association (SCMLA) and served as president of the southern chapter in the late 1990s. In 2000 when the CML designation became an option offered by CMLA, the decision to obtain her CML designation was an obvious one to Pat.
“It was an easy decision to obtain my CML designation,” Pat shared. “The classes and monthly meetings provided by the CMLA keep me in the loop of our legislative issues and the hot topics of the moment. It is also a great opportunity to see old friends and meet the next generation of lenders in our community.” Pat also feels that as our industry changes and challenges continue to present themselves that having a professional designation gives her an edge on her competitors.
As for a person who has had an important role in Pat’s career, she notes her first manager at World Savings, Barb McReynolds. “Barb was the most influential person in my career. She is a hands-off manager who has the intuitive talent and management skills to enhance and lead to a long-term career.”
Congratulations Southern Chapter CMLs!
