In an effort to
reach out to CMLA members and encourage political involvement, the CMLA
initiated caucus events for Democrats and for Republicans. As our membership is comprised of mortgage bankers,
mortgage brokers, and industry service provider companies that represent over
6,000 people involved in real estate sales and finance, our mission is to
represent the interests of our industry, not a partisan political agenda. At
CMLA, whether you are a Democrat, a Republican, or an unaffiliated voter, your
opinion counts.
The Democrat
caucus was held at the Red Room near the Capitol on October 17 and the
Republican caucus was held at Cool River Café in the Denver Tech Center October
18. At each caucus, attendees had the opportunity to hear from elected
officials, learn more about the issues that confront our industry, and provide
feedback to CMLA that will help promote a level playing field for all industry
participants.
Several
attendees noted that the caucuses were a great way to meet legislators face to
face and to meet members of the CMLA staff and Board of Directors to learn
about issues of importance to our industry as well as share their perspectives
on the issues. Both Tom Kimball, Democrat caucus chairman, Dan Harder,
Republican caucus chairman, felt that the caucuses were beneficial for those
who attended.
