Chairman's Letter, Updates: Networking

Networking Committee Update

The CMLA Networking Committee had a successful fall that has continued right into 2010.  The September luncheon featured Zach Urban, Director of Operations and Communications with the Colorado Division of Real Estate.  Zach spoke on implementation of the S.A.F.E. Act.  October’s Luncheon was actually a breakfast.  Nationally known RESPA expert Phil Schulman, Partner at K&L Gates, addressed our membership about the 2010 GFE and HUD-1 Settlement Statement.  Phil went “Overtime” for those who wanted more in depth discussion.

In November Glen Corso, Managing Director of the Community Banking Project headlined a panel discussion on proposed changes to Regulation Z.  Many participants learned for the first time about the possible changes to YSP.  This event marked our venue change to the Doubletree Hotel Denver Tech Center allowing for greater attendance.

The holiday season started off right with the Annual CMLA Holiday party.  The event provided a great networking opportunity and generated record contributions to WHO (Women Helping Others) benefiting the Father Ed Judy House, Mountain Star Center, and Dress for Success.

Our January luncheon featured Marc Friedland, Compliance Office at HUD.  Marc’s presentation covered how to properly complete the new 2010 forms as well as how they will affect our industry.

“What every lender needs to know to be SAFE” is the February 4th luncheon topic, guaranteed to be another highly attended and value packed event.   Not to be missed our biggest event of the year will be held March 5th – The Annual Lenders Fair now including an Education Expo.  Booth and Sponsorship opportunities are available now, visit  www.cmla.com for more details.
